In January 2017, I had been riding for four years and showing in a few local open breed shows. Two of my daughters showed quarter horses with AQHA in high school and college and I wanted to get back to AQHA shows--in my opinion the best. I needed to get to that level rather quickly but most of all I wanted to learn how to ride well, so I made the decision to call Reid Thomas Performance Horses and was accepted into the program. That decision has turned out to be one of the most wonderful things in my life. I not only love this program but also the barn family--riding and showing with this group has been great and it's due to Reid Thomas' leadership. One of most important things to me is the treatment and respect of our horses. Reid's barn is not only beautiful and cheerful for both people and animals, but the health and well being of each horse is the number one priority! This remains true at horse shows, as well. Next to Reid's ability to ride and train both me and my horse, the thing I truly appreciate is his attention to detail--he always has a plan or strategy for everything from tack and show clothes to setting and reaching goals in the show pen. His work ethic is second to none (something my husband admires above all else) and he exemplifies honesty and integrity--not always easy to find in the horse business. Reid not only goes out of his way to make sure I'm prepared for my classes, he prepares my horse for me to ride, at my level, so that it's not confusing to me or the horse. My riding has improved and so has my confidence in the show pen due to Reid's infinite patience and persistence--he's not afraid to explain something in a new way so that I can fully understand it.
Reid Thomas is not only a wonderful trainer but a good friend and I look forward to many more years of riding and showing with him and can't imagine being anywhere else.
